Narender Redhu Released After PKL Final
Patna Pirates announced the release of head coach Narender Redhu on Sunday hours after their narrow loss in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 11 final. The decision shared on the team’s social media accounts shocked fans and kabaddi enthusiasts alike.
Narender Redhu’s Coaching Journey
Narender Redhu, a respected coach with the Indian Armed Forces was appointed head coach of the Pirates in 2023 just before the 10th edition of PKL. Under his leadership the Pirates reached the semifinals but lost to eventual champions Puneri Paltan.
For the 11th season Redhu took a different approach during the player auction. Instead of bidding for big-name players the Pirates focused on young, scouted talent. Despite being underestimated the team surpassed expectations securing a comfortable spot in the playoffs and surprising critics.
Season 11 Highlights
The Pirates had a remarkable journey in Season 11. They defeated U Mumba in the Eliminator and overcame Dabang Delhi in the semifinal to set up a thrilling final clash with the Haryana Steelers. In a close contest the Pirates maintained control for most of the match but eventually fell short losing the final.
The season also witnessed the rise of Devank Dalal and Ayan Lochab, who emerged as breakout stars. Their consistent raiding performances, combined with a solid defensive strategy, were instrumental in the Pirates’ success.
A Surprising Decision
Despite the team’s achievements, Redhu’s dismissal has left many surprised. Given the Pirates’ strong performance this season, the decision seems unexpected and shocking. This is the second major coaching change in PKL Season 11, following Gujarat Giants’ release of Ram Mehar Singh.
The Pirates now face the challenge of finding a new coach as they prepare for Season 12. Fans will eagerly await the team’s next move in the coming weeks.
