India Wins Back-to-Back Women’s U19 T20 World Cup Titles!

India put on a fantastic performance to defeat South Africa and win the ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup 2025 in Kuala Lumpur. They played with confidence and skill, just like they had throughout the tournament, and secured an easy nine-wicket victory in the final.

ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup: South Africa Struggles to Set a Big Score

South Africa won the toss and chose to bat first, but India’s bowlers made it tough for them from the start. Parunika Sisodia took the first wicket early, sending opener Simone Lourens back for a duck. Soon after, Shabnam dismissed the dangerous Jemma Botha, leaving South Africa in trouble at 20/2 in four overs.

India kept up the pressure, with Aayushi Sharma taking another wicket, reducing South Africa to 29/3 by the end of the powerplay. A brief partnership between captain Kayla Reyneke and Karabo Meso helped steady their innings, but both got out quickly.

The best partnership of the match was 30 runs between Mieke van Voorst and Fay Cowling, but it didn’t last long as both got out in back-to-back deliveries. India’s bowlers remained dominant, and South Africa was bowled out for just 82 runs.

The standout bowlers for India were:
Gongadi Trisha – 3 wickets
Aayushi Shukla – 2 wickets for just 9 runs (including two maiden overs!)
Parunika Sisodia, Vaishnavi Sharma, and Shabnam – 2, 1, and 1 wickets, respectively

India’s Chase: A Smooth Victory!

India started their chase aggressively, scoring 18 runs in the first two overs and reaching 36/0 in four overs. South Africa managed to take one wicket when captain Kayla Reyneke got Kamalini G out with a brilliant catch by Simone Lourens.

But that was the only success for South Africa. Trisha Gongadi played an excellent innings, scoring an unbeaten 44 runs off 33 balls, hitting eight fours. Sanika Chalke also batted well, making 26 runs off 22 balls. The duo comfortably led India to victory, reaching the target in style.

India Creates History Again!

With this nine-wicket win, India successfully defended their title, keeping the trophy they won in 2023. It was a brilliant team performance, proving once again why they are the best U19 women’s team in the world!
