World cup

The Bihar government has allocated a massive budget of ₹8.25 crore to host the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025, scheduled to take place between March 7 and 12 at Rajgir. Bihar will be hosting the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup for the second time, as it had already successfully organized the event in the region for the first time in 2012. The match will be played at the Rajgir Sports Academy, which is a modern venue with an indoor stadium having a seating capacity of 5,000 spectators. This stadium will ensure good conditions for all the teams, thereby guaranteeing a world-class experience for the participants and the viewers alike.

Kabaddi World Cup 2025

The government has reaffirmed its commitment to hosting the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025 after a cabinet meeting led by Siddharth S, Additional Chief Secretary of Bihar. The event will feature 14 teams from across the globe, including eight Asian countries such as India, China, Japan, South Korea, and Nepal, alongside six teams from Europe, Africa, and South America.

This edition would be a significant milestone for Bihar because it would host an international event of this scale after such a long time. Bihar first hosted the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup in 2012 at the Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna, where India won the title against Iran. That event set high standards for future kabaddi tournaments and became a legacy to cherish.

The 2025 World Cup will be hosted at the Rajgir Sports Academy, which is well-equipped with world-class infrastructure and facilities. Ravindran Sankaran, Director General of the Bihar State Sports Authority, confirmed that the venue meets international standards, offering Bihar a chance to showcase its hosting capabilities and boost global attention on kabaddi.

Global reach to this event:

A unique feature attached to the global reach, in coming in Asia, to Europe and the rest of the other continents, all coming to participate in it on a top-notch level. Out of the eight Asian countries, India would be one of the strongest favorites to lift the title. The country has long dominated kabaddi as a sport and is proud of its history in winning international tournaments. However, other teams representing countries like China, Japan, and South Korea would also make their presence felt. Teams from Europe, South America, and Africa will help include a good dose of much-needed diversity at the event. It will create a competitive feel that could catapult kabaddi into an even bigger international spotlight.

Kabaddi League (PKL) season 11

Odisha will host the 71st Senior Kabaddi National Championship, which takes place from February 20 to 23, 2025. Its most important loss would be star player and probable skipper for the event Puneri Paltan, Aslam Inamdar. He is expected to miss the same with the ongoing recovery process due to the current injury. Inamdar had been instrumental in his team’s success but is still recovering from a knee injury he suffered during Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season 11, November 2024. Inamdar sustained an injury during a raid when he fell while attempting to tackle Telugu Titans, leaving an enormous hole both in his current team and his state team, Maharashtra’s chances in future tournaments.

At one point during the match against the Telugu Titans, Aslam Inamdar slid while trying to do a toe touch and hurt his knee. He fell awkwardly, so he went out of the game early. The injury really phased him out for most of the season. Inamdar’s absence during the most important matches like the Noida and Pune legs was a massive blow for Puneri Paltan, who lost a berth in the playoffs. His presence would have greatly been felt with his leadership skills and all-around abilities.

Inamdar’s recovery

Since the knee surgery, Inamdar’s recovery has been slow but promising. However, his doctors have warned him to be cautious as knee injuries can be very serious and may jeopardize his career if not healed properly. Thus, Inamdar is likely to miss the Senior Nationals, where Maharashtra was hoping to compete for the championship. This is a major blow to the team, as Inamdar’s leadership has been crucial in past tournaments. Although Inamdar resumed practice post-surgery, his doctor remains cautious about allowing him to return to full action. Consequently, his participation in the Senior Nationals is uncertain. Maharashtra now faces the challenge of replacing their experienced leader as they prepare for the competition without him.

Aslam Inamdar, who led Maharashtra to the Senior Nationals semifinals last season, will be missed after a narrow 38-37 loss to Haryana. His absence leaves a void, but key players like Nitin Dhankar and Ashu Malik will step up to carry the team forward in the 71st Senior Nationals. Fans remain hopeful for Inamdar’s swift recovery, as his leadership and experience are invaluable. When he returns, both the team and supporters will eagerly await his comeback.

Conclusion

Bihar’s decision to allocate ₹8.25 crore for hosting the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025 underscores the state’s commitment to promoting sports and bolstering its reputation as a global sporting hub. The event, set to take place in Rajgir, will feature teams from across the world, bringing international attention to kabaddi. Meanwhile, Aslam Inamdar’s likely absence from the 71st Senior Kabaddi National Championship due to his ongoing knee recovery is a setback for both Maharashtra and Puneri Paltan. However, his recovery remains a priority, and fans hope to see him return to the mat soon.
