Estonia’s Sahil Chauhan now holds the record for the fastest century in T20 cricket. He scored a stunning 100 in just 27 balls against Cyprus during a bilateral series in June 2024.
Chauhan’s incredible knock came in the second game of the day after he was dismissed for a duck in the first match. Chasing 192, he smashed an unbeaten 144 off 41 balls, leading Estonia to victory in just 13 overs with six wickets to spare. This knock is also the fastest century in T20 Internationals.
During his innings, Chauhan hit 18 sixes, equaling Chris Gayle’s record for the most sixes in a T20 match.
Before Chauhan, Chris Gayle held the record for the fastest T20 century. He scored 100 off 30 balls in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2013 for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) against Pune Warriors. Gayle’s explosive innings included 17 sixes and 13 fours, with a final score of 175 runs in 66 balls—the highest individual score in T20 cricket to date.
In India, Gujarat’s Urvil Patel holds the record for the fastest T20 century by an Indian. He reached the milestone in 28 balls during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024 against Tripura. Punjab’s Abhishek Sharma later matched this record in the same tournament against Meghalaya.
Scoring a T20 century is rare and special, but Sahil Chauhan’s feat has set a new benchmark in the format’s history.
