Pro Kabaddi League 11th Season Enters Its Second Decade with a Milestone Season

The Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) now in its 11th season has reached a significant milestone as it enters its second decade of existence. This achievement highlights the league’s resilience and growing stature in Indian sports.

Reflecting on this milestone, Anupam Goswami League Commissioner of the PKL, shared his thoughts on its impact and contributions. “Apart from the IPL only two leagues in India have sustained themselves into a second decade. It’s a tough feat to achieve and truly remarkable,” he said.

Advancing Players’ Careers

Goswami emphasized how the PKL has transformed the lives of Indian kabaddi players. Beyond professional development, the league has revamped players’ financial well-being by integrating sports science, analytics, strength training, and recovery systems.

He added, “After the IPL, the highest paychecks for athletes in India are seen in the PKL. Sustaining this for 11 years is no small matter. It’s an achievement we’re proud of.”

Season 11: A Competitive Battle

“Player development is at the core of PKL’s philosophy,” Goswami explained. He highlighted Puneri Paltan’s strategic focus on developing home-grown talent as a testament to the league’s New Young Players program and long-term planning.

Building for the Future

Looking ahead to Season 12, PKL authorities are introducing new policies to strengthen franchises, the league, and kabaddi’s ecosystem. Goswami believes this will help teams build legacy value and further modernize the sport.

“As teams age and acquire legacy value, kabaddi will grow stronger” he said. “We’re also focusing on leveraging technology and social media to engage audiences and modernize the sport.”

Constant Learning and Growth

Goswami concluded by emphasizing the league’s ongoing journey of learning and evolution. “We are constantly learning and adapting,” he said. “Each season brings new insights and as we implement changes, we see positive reactions. Social media engagement, for instance, has grown significantly in recent years.”

As the PKL steps into its second decade its focus remains on empowering players, improving the sport’s ecosystem and expanding kabaddi’s reach globally.
