Sachin Tendulkar Praises Jasprit Bumrah’s Record-Breaking Performance
Australia completed a dominant Border-Gavaskar Trophy campaign with a six-wicket win in challenging conditions at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Despite India’s promising start to the series in Perth, Australia outclassed the visitors in the remaining matches, clinching a convincing 3-1 series victory.
Sachin Tendulkar Congratulates Australia
Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar took to social media platform X to congratulate the Australian team for their remarkable comeback and resilience. Tendulkar praised their ability to bounce back and reclaim the trophy after more than a decade.
“Commendable performance by Australia to come back from 0-1 down and win the series 3-1. Congratulations to them for winning the Border Gavaskar Trophy,” Tendulkar wrote.
Appreciation for Jasprit Bumrah
Tendulkar also reserved special praise for Jasprit Bumrah, who delivered a record-breaking performance throughout the series. Bumrah’s 32 wickets in five matches earned him the Player of the Series award, cementing his status as a match-winner for India. Tendulkar acknowledged Bumrah’s ability to keep India competitive at crucial moments, despite the team falling short.
Jasprit Historic Milestones
During the series, Jasprit Bumrah achieved multiple milestones. He crossed the 200-wicket mark in Test cricket, becoming the bowler with the best average among players with at least 200 Test scalps. He also ended 2024 as the leading wicket-taker in Test cricket, capping off a stellar year.
Bumrah’s tally of 32 wickets was unmatched, placing him ahead of Australia captain Pat Cummins. His efforts included captaining India to their sole victory in Perth. However, the workload began to take its toll by the final Test. Bumrah suffered back spasms, limiting his effectiveness in the first innings and preventing him from bowling in the second.
Focus Shifts to the ICC Champions Trophy
With the Border-Gavaskar Trophy now in the past, India will look to regroup ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy. The team hopes Bumrah can use the break to recover fully and lead their charge for another ICC title.
