Manchester United Crisis: Rashford’s Future, Captaincy Drama, and Rooney’s Potential

Rashford’s Future and Rooney as Striker Coach

Manchester United are preparing for a tough clash against Liverpool today. The team is in poor form losing five of their last six games. Head coach Ruben Amorim has described the situation as a “survival” battle.

With Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee struggling in attack and Marcus Rashford’s future uncertain former players believe drastic changes are needed. One suggestion involves bringing in Wayne Rooney as a specialist striker coach to help solve their goal-scoring woes.

Meanwhile tensions are rising within the squad with calls for a captaincy change and reports of disciplinary concerns surrounding Rashford.

Marcus Rashford’s Night Out Controversy

Reports suggest Marcus Rashford was questioned by Ruben Amorim regarding an alleged night out after a match. Following this Rashford was dropped from the squad for several games.

Although Marcus Rashford scored in Amorim’s first two matches including a brace against Everton he has not started a league game since. The forward has also expressed his desire to leave the club further fueling speculation about his future.

Calls for Captaincy Change

Bruno Fernandes is facing scrutiny as captain after a series of poor performances. He has received three red cards this season including one during a shocking defeat to Wolves.

During Bruno Fernandes’ absence in a loss to Newcastle Lisandro Martinez wore the armband. However, Harry Maguire a former captain, was also on the field prompting suggestions that Amorim should reinstate him as skipper.

Wayne Rooney as a Striker Coach?

With Manchester United’s attacking struggles continuing Wes Brown has proposed Wayne Rooney take up a role as a striker coach.

Brown said, “If Wayne wanted to spend time as a striking coach, he would be brilliant at it. He was one of the best goalscorers we’ve ever seen and a top playmaker as well.”
